Mazi Elochukwu Ohagi's tweet revealed that each of the 360 members of the House of Representatives received a brand new 2023 land cruiser SUV valued at #200 million. The news has also gone viral and has got tongues wagging. Nigeria's intolerant unpaid debt is running in trillions of Naira. President Tinubu-led government, just a few months old, has also started borrowing despite the outstanding accumulated debts.
The last time I checked, Naira to the dollar was about #1,200 per dollar. I don’t know what it is now, as the Naira keeps tumbling daily. Suppose the Nigerian government can afford such a massive amount of money just for cars for the members of the Green Chamber. Why can't they pay their debts, strengthen or stabilize the Naira, pay salaries of civil servants and pensioners and other benefits the people should enjoy as citizens?
Nigerian leaders and representatives are selfish; they use the people they are supposed to represent as a climbing ladder. They deliberate and pass into law matters of their interests. For instance, they were asked to pay for WAEC and JAMB fees so that the examination would be free for students. They refused, saying they could not afford to make the exams free but could afford to own a #200m SUV land cruiser hmmmm.
Look at their respective constituencies; you will see so many dilapidated structures. Some school buildings have collapsed completely; the schools lack chairs and other teaching and learning materials. Teaching and learning take place in a non-conducive environment. They are unconcerned because their children are studying abroad. Government-owned health facilities are in sorry states; hence, our health practitioners are fleeing in droves. The roads are nothing to write home about. This trend has been recurring from one administration to another over the years, yet nothing has been done about it.
Currently, the cost of living in Nigeria is so high that it also affects the rich in Nigerian society. Consequent to the removal of fuel subsidies by the Tinubu government, people are going through many difficulties to survive. The cost of everything has gone so high that the poorest of the poor are already starving to death. Their so-called palliative is a massive scam; it doesn't reach the target, "the poorest of the poor". Those in the leadership position share it among themselves at the top. How can you transfer money to someone without a bank account?
Biafra restoration is the only hope of the ordinary person. When Biafra comes, there will be equity and justice. People will enjoy the dividends of democracy to the core. Resources will be utilized accordingly for the good of all. For over a decade, the agitation by the Biafran people to restore Biafra a free Nation has been held down by the connivance and betrayal of Igbo politicians at all levels. That notwithstanding, BIAFRA must be restored. Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and the Indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB) have sacrificed a lot for Biafra restoration, and it will never be in vain. They were tagged terrorists by Southeast governors and harassed and intimidated by Nigerian security Agents. Still, they did not retreat nor surrender. Their resoluteness and consistency are yielding positive results.
The Enugu state high court on Thursday, 26/10/23, ruled, in the judge's own words, "I will not hesitate in holding that self-determination is a right and not a crime, and no one, including the applicant, can be arrested, detained, and prosecuted on the basis only that he believes, professes or pursues self-determination. See article 20 of the African Charter". Can somebody tell me now why Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is still in detention? Nigeria is the only country in the world where a referendum means war. The Nigerian government should release him and organize a referendum so they can choose where they want to belong.
