Nomeh Unateze is a community located in Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State. In the whole of the community there's one Stream, and this is called Nvuna river. Nvuna river is the only sustainable drinking water in the entire Community, and which also passed through Awgu, Aninri, and Nkanu East LGAs.
This Nvuna river suddenly turns bloody in the early hours of Saturday 13 March 2021, following a poisonous chemical poured into the river by the Fulani people residing in the area as alleged by the villagers. The men, Michael Chukwuani and Ani Daniel while speaking to IPOB Enugu State Media team, claimed that the Fulani people, the perpetrators of this evil, flew into rage against the people since the day they were given quit notice to vacate the Land of Nomeh Unateze.
The quit notice earlier issued to them was as a result of the series of killings, rape cases, destruction of the people's farmlands that was always traced to them and all efforts put in place to end this wickedness proved abortive, and the people saw the quit notice as the only option left to end this madness.
More so, every livestock that drank from the poisoned water are all dead. Nevertheless, another source revealed that the calamity was as a result of a spillage from the company in the neighbouring Community.
