Armed Nigeria MILITARY men caused mayhem to road users and business owners in Abakaliki Ebonyi state at Afikpo Road following their mandatory search of every shop and stores within the axis and Building Material market in the city, between 10am - 11:50am on December 17th 2020.
The heavily armed soldiers and the police alongside Neighbourhood watch personnel, laid road blocks at the Sperandio, Afikpo Road axis and Vanco down to Onuebonyi junction, thereby making it hard for road users and pedestrians in the town to go on their normal daily activities within Abakaliki town.
This has sent frightening signal to citizens especially those in the state capital as no one knows what the Nigeria military were up to, many shop owners closed their businesses before the closure time for the day due to fear that gripped them following the military harassment on the citizens.
A reliable source within the premises told the media that the soldiers who came with David Umahi Ebonyi state governor for the operation, alleged that some contraband goods was brought to the state suspected to have been offloaded within the Building Materials Market in Abakaliki, hence the reason for the thorough unwarranted search of road users and shops within the mentioned areas in Abakaliki.
Goods belonging to marketers in the building materials Abakaliki was confiscated by the soldiers with the directives of Ebonyi state government, claiming there are explosive contained products.
The information equally has it that two persons civilians whose identify could not really be ascertained were abducted by the soldiers and taken to an unknown destination, as at the time of this report their whereabouts yet unknown.
Citizens and good people of Ebonyi state should be extremely careful with their activities nowadays and try to move when two eyes are visible, because night is dangerous considering the level of security challenges currently in Ebonyi state.
