The Ebonyi state governor Engr David Nwaeze Umahi has assured Ebonyi youths peacefully protesting for #EndSars and end of bad governance in Nigeria at Abakaliki the capital of Ebonyi state on Monday afternoon October, 19th 2020 that he will look into the demands of the youths and grant it to them.
He made the statement while addressing the youths who mounted on the gate of the Ebonyi state government house and the state police headquarters for many hours calling the governor to come out and address them.
The governor promised to set up special committee to look into the activities of SARS in Ebonyi state, to unravel the victims of their illegal activities for immediate compensation.
He gave an order for immediate dismantling of all the police road blocks as well as stop and check points in the state and gave out his personal mobile phone numbers for the public to contact should they witness any form of police extortion and harassment anywhere in Ebonyi state starting from Tuesday October, 20th 2020.
The governor hailed the protesters whom 99.7% of them are youths for their determination and boldness to fight for their future. He said, " You are fighting for your rights, you're fighting for your future, this is to show that you're really the leaders of tomorrow". He concludes that all the support needed from the Ebonyi state government by the youths will be given to them as he urged them to remain peaceful in their protest.
The youths resolved to continue the peaceful protest with a candle 🕯️ night at Abakaliki the capital City of Ebonyi state tonight of 19th October, 2020 in memory of those killed and incarcerated by the SARS and to all the victims of police brutality in Ebonyi state and the entire Nigeria especially the youths whose lives were cut short by these murderous men in uniform.
