Armed men dressed on the Nigeria army uniforms again
invaded Ukwagba community at Ngbo in Ohaukwu LGA Ebonyi state, on Tuesday 19th
May 2020, and opened fire on unarmed innocent women clearing grasses in their
farm land for cultivation and shot to death a young boy Tochukwu Umeh, while
others sustained bullet injuries including Mrs Chinwe Egba who is now receiving
treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
Mrs Egba Chinyere who survived the terror attack told
Ebonyi state IPOB media that the armed men which were more than fifty in their
numbers dressed on Nigeria army uniforms carrying AK4-7 and AK49 rifles each,
came from the route of Igala in Benue state.
On the video clip and pictures attached to this
publication is an interview with the eye witness, who explained to us how it happened.
She spoke with Ngbo language.
She said “the attack occurred at the hour of 11am”
[interpretation] on the above-mentioned date. She added that 'it was only God
that helped me to escape, perhaps to tell the ugly story'.
Late Tochukwu Ume, the young boy that died at the spot of
the terror attack in the farm was buried same day in his father's country home
at Okpochiri Ukwagba in Ngbo Ohaukwu LGA Ebonyi state same day of the
occurrence on 19th May, 2020.
Some community leaders of Ngbo which was contacted, said
they knew of the attack but were unaware of any Nigeria military deployment to
maintain peace and orderliness at the long time conflict affected areas of Ngbo
in Ohaukwu LGA Ebonyi state. Some argued,
should there be such development of soldiers’ deployment, it would have been on
the news. Again, it ought to be the combined team of soldiers and security from
both conflicts affected areas for proper discharge of their duties to the best
interest of the people of Benue and Ebonyi state especially Ngbo and Igala.
Some were of the opinion that the armed men which carried
out the attack might have come from the enemies’ camp, but disguised to be
Nigeria army just to achieve their dastardly ambition.
Efforts made to reach the Nigeria army for confirmation and
clarifications if it was their men that carried out the attack or not was
fruitless.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria police in the area was alerted as
at the time the attack was ongoing, but could not do anything to calm the
situation.
Many has called on the international communities to look
for a means of bringing lasting solution to the killings of the innocent and
destruction of people's property at Ngbo. They asked them to keenly look into
the quest to restore Biafra led by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB because that
according to them is the only thing that will bring perpetual solution.
