In the past week, Nigerian Army and Police attacked
several buses conveying Biafrans from different locations to Afaraukwu as they
were coming for the funeral of the parents of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu on 14th February
2020. They started abducting Biafrans from 12th of February till date and so
many incidents occurred with casualties. Some were shot at and others whisked
away to unknown destination.
Today, we have an eyewitness account from the twin (Peter
Nweke) whose brother (Paul Nweke) was abducted from the same bus. In his
narrative, they left Imo State to Umuahia for the funeral but on arriving at Umuahia
Tower, they were stopped by a patrolling Army vehicle and were asked to step
down but to their shock, the soldiers opened fire on them immediately, shooting
sporadically and they started running for their lives. According to him, his twin
brother (Paul Nweke) fell and he tried to help but the soldiers were too close
and he continued running but when he looked back they have picked up his twin.
Since 14th February, he has moved round all the Police stations in Umuahia but
couldn't find his brother.
In this very bus was another young man (Ikeme Nnamdi) who
also fell and was abducted by the soldiers. His friend said, when he turned he
saw the soldiers hitting him on the ground and finally jacked him up. Up till
date there is no trace to where he is.
