A Magistrate Court sitting in Enugu had on 08:06:19
granted Bail to all 140 members of Indigenous People of Biafra on grounds of
lack of merit in the treasonable Felony Charge preferred against them by the
State as the Members pleaded 'Not Guilty' on all the charges.
Recall that they were ambushed and arrested by Nigerian
Security Operatives on their way to Nsukka on 22/5/19 for a publicity rally of
their forthcoming 30th May event and were since remanded in Prison custody.
On 13th June 2019, the defense counsel to the
140 IPOB members, Barrister Tony Nwoko who has been processing the documents to
meet up with the Conditions of the Bail as requested by the Court, was able to
get 60 members out from Prison custody.
Our Correspondent Mazi Tony Asomba who had an interaction
with the defense counsel, Bar Tony Nwoko, said, he was assured that the
remaining 80 members will equally leave the Maximum Prison unfailingly tomorrow
14:6:19. He explained that the procedure to tidying the documents for all 140
members was cumbersome, hence they could go in batches.
