Correspondents from ALL STATE MEDIA TEAM met him and
under a live coverage he granted an interview.
Mazi, please can you introduce yourself to us, we are
journalists from IPOB State Media Team?
Blind Man: My
name is Mazi Maduabuchi Onyechege from Mbaitoli in Owerri Province, Imo State
but I reside here in Enugwu State.
Correspondent:
It appears you cannot see, what led to your blindness?
Blind man: I
became blind due to the incessant strikes by Doctors and because I don't come
from a rich background, I couldn't raise money for good treatment and as you
can see here, I resorted to begging for alms for livelihood.
Correspondent:
We were told in this neighbourhood that you are a passionate Biafran, what
motivated you to join the struggle?
Blind man: My
father fought the Nigerian Civil War. He told me all that happened and the
atrocities that NIGERIA committed against us. So, I have the history in my
head. Again, I heard about Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and when I listened to him, I was
amazed at his thunderous voice and courage and quickly I searched for a family
meeting of IPOB and found one.
Correspondent:
We were told about how you contribute
immensely to finance BIAFRA Project here, how do you raise the Money?
Blind man: It
is from the proceeds of what I am given by good spirit brothers, as I move
around the streets of BIAFRA. I am not pressured to do what I do for Biafra. I
do it because I love my Freedom more than I love my Life. The Freedom of the
Igbo man from Nigeria is very important. That is why every day, I pray for Mazi
Nnamdi Kanu and Mazi George Onyeibe.
Correspondent:
Can you tell us, on the average, how much do you contribute?
Blind man: I
joined the struggle in 2015 and since then, I have been contributing in any
project on ground under IPOB. There are several instances where I have given
N10,000, 20,000, 30,000 etc. It all depends on the urgency of the project at
hand. Sometimes, I may not have the money and I will reach out to my fellow
Blind comrades and borrow from them to solve the situation and I pay back
gradually. Such instances are when our Transmitter is down. I don't like seeing
our Radio station not transmitting, it makes me very uncomfortable and I will
start running around to have it fixed. I can borrow any amount to make sure the
Radio is working.
Correspondent:
How do you realize such amount of money from just begging on the streets?
Blind man: The
secret is, I Preach about BIAFRA and I sing BIAFRA songs which attracts so many
people to drop good amount of money for me. Igbos love BIAFRA, they want to go
from Nigeria, no doubt and that is why they encourage me seeing that I am blind
and evangelising under my condition. So, I feel very happy to return back the
proceeds back to BIAFRA Project.
Correspondent:
What message do you have for Biafrans all over the world?
Blind man: I
am appealing to them, to stay steadfast in resolute. BIAFRA will come if we are
United and willing to make sacrifices when the occasion calls. Let us assist
Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, Mazi Uche Mefor and Mazi Onyeibe because they can't do this
alone.
Correspondent:
Thank you so much, Comrade. We are really short of words. All we can assure you
today, is that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is not going to fail us. Your sacrifices shall
not be in vain. May Chukwuokike Abiama keep you in good health and you shall
live to see BIAFRA.

Correspondent:
If a blind man can reason and sacrifice in this magnitude, how about you that
is fit and wealthy?
How about those that have the resources but feel
reluctant to support or join the struggle?
How about those that are in the struggle but thinks of
how to outsmart the structured system and cheat?
Think! Think! Think!
