Some weeks back we were informed about a gang of unknown men who went to
the Palace of His Royal Majesty, the Obi of Isele Ukwu kingdom, HRM Agbogidi
Nduka Ezeagwuna II in Aniocha North Local Government of Delta State. Their plan
was to kidnap the Obi, they reached out to his Security man who was at the Gate
and promised him N5million as a bribe to grant them access into the Obi's home
during the invasion. The Security man told them that presently, the Obi and
Elders of Council were in a serious meeting and they wouldn’t succeed
because of the crowd. He gave them a date which was three weeks after their
first visit. These men were said to have come with exotic cars and were all
dressed in black suit.
Fortunately, this Guard is a very loyal Servant of the king. He
disclosed what happened to the king and the date he asked them to come. So, the
King made serious arrangements with the Local Vigilante. SARS were deployed to
be ready also. The day finally came the Vigilante and Police both laid
ambush within the Palace, the bandit finally came, the gates opened as planned,
they went into the Palace and they took the King away. While they were about
leaving they were rounded by all the Security Operatives and the king was
rescued and the bandits apprehended. They were taken to SARS Office in Asaba
for interrogation and prosecution.
We tried to make further search to unravel the motive of the kidnappers.
The King didn't have any Issue with anybody and interestingly, none of the
kidnappers was from the Community. Rather, it seemed they were hired by
Terrorist Herdsmen because the Community had ruled against giving out their
Land to Hausa Fulani Herdsmen because of the ruthless manner they graze in
their farms and destroy their crops with reckless abandon.
We can all recall that the king of Ubulu Ukwu was kidnapped in same
manner two years ago by Fulani Herdsmen and was eventually killed.
So, this attempted kidnap is suspected to be plotted by Fulani Herdsmen
also. We are still making efforts to get to the root of this crime but nothing
has been unveiled yet.
We shall get you posted as soon as details drops.
