A referendum is a direct vote in which the entire electorate is asked to
either accept or reject a particular proposal. In April 1993 nearly a million
voters in Eritrea a quarter of the population cast ballots to become sovereign
and independence of Ethiopia. There have been several referendums in Morocco
most of which were related to the Moroccan constitution. In 1991 Constitution
referendum was held in Bangladesh.
On 30th of August 1999 East Timor formally governed by Indonesia held a
referendum which voters choose either to become an autonomous region within Indonesia or for
total independence, around 79% of voters opted for independence, before then
the constitution of Indonesia did not mention referendum so referendum was not
part of Indonesia political practice, but in 1985 the people consultative
assembly issued a law, no 5/1985 that officially recognised referendum. After
the Islamic Revolution has toppled the Iranian monarch a referendum was held in
1979 to choose the future governing system of the country.
On 23/11/2018 the Indigenous people of Biafra volunteers intelligence
rallied all over Biafra Land to sensitize our brethren ahead of the coming
Biafra referendum, that will determine our exit from this contraption and
monumental slavery called Nigeria, our
gallant men and woman match the streets of Biafra land singing "no
referendum, no election" telling people that IPOB is not and never a secessionist movement
as claimed by our traducers but we are indigenous people excising our right to self-determination
as enshrined in the UN charter of indigenous people, amidst heavy security as a
result of the ongoing operation python dance 3 we gallantly protested armed
with only the knowledge of our conviction, because Biafra is the only reason
why we are alive, the only hope for a better tomorrow.
There have been series of selections in the name of election since 1959
till date nothing has changed, we only get punitive boundary adjustments, we
suffer from selective amnesia, new punitive bills, closure of our sea ports,
airports, wicked police and military check points, bad roads, no light even
with the coal we have surplus and gas we can't get light, creating more stop
and search designed to aid the terrorist to store more arms in the mosque they
build in Biafra land so that they can easily exterminate us from the face of
the earth should we wake up one day and try to retaliate, so why should we
vote? Should we continue voting and prolonging the evil days?
The days of reckoning has come along with a revolution to set the
children of light free and to achieve our aim the indigenous people of Biafra
are telling the world that we won't be part of the election of 2019 until a
referendum is conducted to determine our exit from Nigeria.
