THE matter between IPOB Ebonyi state and the Nigeria police force which
was scheduled for hearing today October 23, 2018 was shifted to November 27,
2018 because the matter was not listed among the case to be heard by the court
despite fixing the date themselves on September, 25th 2018 when the matter
ought to be heard by the court but was postponed as a result of magistrate's
absent from the court that day.
Recall that the Nigeria police force department of Anti Kidnapping Squad
in Abakaliki arrested seven members of IPOB on 25th March, 2018 while attending
the burial of late John Nwoke the deputy welfare officer Ebonyi state IPOB at
Effium in Ohaukwu LGA Ebonyi state.
Among those arrested were Ogbuka Franklin, Chukwu Jacinta, Pius Iziriga,
Eze Daniel Obinna, Mazi Igwe Ogbonnaya the state coordinator and others, two vehicles,
a bag of rice and women hand bags containing smart phones of the victims were
equally seized by the Nigeria police which on the release of the items, a carton
of beer, mobile phones, and other valuable items were nowhere to be found, the
criminally minded Nigeria police denied having knowledge of the lost items
under their custody.
Since the matter was taken to court by the Nigeria police, it has
suffered series of adjournment and postponement.
On the matter today, the counsel to IPOB, Barr. Cyril Orogwu and his
colleagues as well as IPOB members in the Ebonyi state stormed the Magistrate
court Abakaliki for the hearing on the case, but was disappointed on hearing
that the matter was not listed among the cases to be heard by Mrs Stellar
Ugoeke the Magistrate presiding over the case. The matter was shifted for
hearing on 27, November 2017.
Counsel to IPOB, Barrister Orogwu Cyril encouraged the members of IPOB
to always appear in the court whenever the matter is scheduled for hearing,
because in the end freedom will be achieved.
Mazi Igwe Ogbonnaya the Ebonyi state coordinator also appreciated his
members present and those absent in the court for their resoluteness on the
struggle for Biafra restoration in the state. According to him "we
appreciate you for keeping it on till now, we shall stop at nothing but freedom
because Chukwu-Okike-Abiama is with us".
