Centuries back, the British foresaw the bright future of Aba as the home of creativity, technology and commercial centre in the whole of Biafra land, and decided to employ every destructive strategy to eradicate sensitive wisdom and essential qualities that made the area a great city and well-known meeting point for the Biafran people. Being a major commercial centre, Aba is popularly known as “Japan of Africa”.
The British; Nigerian government, and currently those who claimed to be Biafrans but are Nigerian politicians masterminded the downfall of the great city of Aba. Before now, Aba has been into inventing of so many unique technologies such as the jet known as “Jairo”; generating set that uses water; solar electricity; solar cars; and the planet of fashion like shoes, sandals, slippers, belts and clothes. The fashion wares are exported to other African countries like Mali, Senegal, South Africa, and Cameroun etc.
Aba entrepreneurs employ more Youths than the government of Nigeria. British and Nigerian government have systematically and successfully extorted Aba people and Biafra as a whole by using securities checking points, electricity body known as EEDC, and the cattle ranches as major platforms to bring Aba people down. The federal and state government have imposed more than 100% tax on the masses of Aba without providing essential amenities to the people.
The past and current Nigeria politicians always give out illegal allocations from the state government to compensate their political thugs and hoodlums that help them to rig elections. In the end, the common citizens will be the ones to pay dearly for it all, through fraudulent levy imposition on poor of Aba.
During the regime of former governor Orji Uzo Kalu, he forced landlords in Aba to contribute money for the building of roads, yet the money was swallowed by the same governor and his cohorts without building the roads poor people were made to contribute towards. British-Nigerian government and their politicians have made sure that Aba citizens do not receive any meaningful thing including electricity.
Abia State government has sent many people back to the rural areas untimely and unnoticed, and also closed down many profitable businesses that will bring Aba to the limelight, and provide significant employment to jobless Biafran youths. Aba has remained underdeveloped; ugly, dirty and unkempt city you can think of in Biafran land because of the selfish interest of the British government.
It is only the poor individuals in Aba that are working acidulously to elevate their various businesses to the world standard without the help of government. The buried creative history of Aba will resurface only when Biafra is restored, and then Aba will reclaim the greatness, power, pride and glory she has long lost. Only Biafra restoration will bring Aba to the global limelight and also put it in the scheme of things. Aba and Biafran citizens should say capital NO to fake political promises and unworkable PVC orientation. Think of your future.
In Biafra, we stand.
