The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Women Wing have narrated their
experiences and abuses melted on them by the men in uniform, who arrested them
on the 17th August 2018 in Owerri. The women who were on peaceful protest in
demand of the whereabouts of their son (Mazi Nnamdi Kanu) whose where about is
unknown after military raided his house last year September.
"We were molested, beaten like criminals. It was a horrible
experience in the hands of Boko Haram in Nigeria military uniform", the
women told Rivers State Media Team.
The Rivers State Media (RSM) was on visit to some of the victims to get first-hand
information on what transpired at Owerri on the 17th August 2018, as it was
said that many of the women are still undergoing medical treatment in different
states of Biafraland. Unfortunately, one of the women from Igweocha that was
shot on the head by the security men couldn't speak to the team of our
journalists due to her severe pains.
RSM can authoritatively report that these women are stronger and on high
spirits despite the excessive application of brutal force on them by the
Nigeria government. One of the victims of Owerri abuse (Catherine Onwuzulike)
who spoke to RSM narrated how the Nigeria security operatives molested them,
humiliated them for exercising their fundamental rights to freedom.
Also speaking to RSM, IPOB Women in Igweocha narrate their ordeals on
what transpired between them and the Boko Harams in Nigerian military uniform.
Responding to question, octogenarian, Mama Virginia Akwatibe narrated how she
was locked up in the "dirty dungeon" with others unattended to. She
narrated how they were terribly "beaten like criminals, not even minding
my age as a mother. Do you know that the Nigerian police were stepping on
pregnant women? They kicked their stomach, hitted them mercilessly with their
guns inside the prison", she narrated in tears.
"Many women had miscarriage due to the height of torture they went
through in the hands of these criminals in uniform. These women with their
conditions, came out in mass to demand for the whereabouts of our son who was
abducted together with his parents on the 14 September 2017", she stated
further.
"They told us in the dirty dungeon that Biafra is dead and they
have killed our leader and nothing happened. That they are going to do anything
they like and heaven will not fall. That they have the international backing to
make sure the subjugate Biafrans until the World ends. That Nigeria is too Big
for that small boy Kanu to destroy" the octogenarian told RMS in tears.
"They starved us, and wickedly denied us medical treatment. Many of us
were terribly ill. Those men in uniform are not humans but Boko Haram in
disguise".
Asked if her experience weighs her down in Biafra restoration project,
she said, "the brutality and molestation has made us to totally believe
that the Nigerian government and her puppets in our land don't mean well for us
and our children. The only people to be beacon upon and followed wholeheartedly
are the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) led by Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and
Deputized by Mazi Uchenna Okafor Mefor. They mean good for us, they are
fighting hard for our redemption".
"Son, do everything at your arsenal to make sure we all leave this
dungeon called Nigeria and also make sure that IPOB do everything at their
arsenal to destroy this useless Godforsaken Country Nigeria. Nigeria is a crime
against humanity", she admonished the young Rivers State Media with her.
"For molesting us and exposing us to this dangerous environment, we
curse Nigeria. Nothing good shall come from her again, until we restore the
Kingdom of Chukwu Okike on earth (Biafra). Son! our freedom is very
close", she said smiling.
It will be recall that the abuse and molestation melted on these armless
women on protest got international condemnation. Amnesty International (AI),
Civil Society Organisations and men of good conscience frowned at such clamp
down on peaceful protesting Biafran women.
