THE indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB) in Ebonyi state on Tuesday, 28
August 2018 unanimously passed a vote of no confidence on the Ebonyi state IPOB
deputy coordinator, Mazi Ugochukwu Nweke and Ebonyi central senatorial district
coordinator, Mazi Nwoba Chinedu.
This happened after the house has vigorously investigated the reports
brought before them against these two persons by the members of IPOB within
their area of jurisdiction and beyond, following the violation and contravening
of the IPOB bylaw.
Mazi Nweke Ugochukwu the Ebonyi state IPOB deputy coordinator, who's
office was declared vacant on Tuesday 28, August 2018 was accused of long
period of absent from meetings both unit, zonal, local government, senatorial,
state and executive meetings without any reason of his absents either to his
state coordinator Mazi Igwe Ogbonnaya or the state PRO Bishop Nwachinemere
Stanley or the welfare officer Mazi Iduma Onyemachi. The meeting that was
presided by Mazi Igwe Ogbonnaya the Ebonyi state IPOB coordinator, based their
action on the ground that the IPOB bylaw article x (offenses / punishment)
under article (iii) section 1 of it which reads: Any member including principal
officers who fail to attend meeting three consecutive times without genuine
reason shall be summarily dismissed.
The meeting which had in attendance the state executives, senatorial
district coordinators and local government area coordinators, passed a vote of
no confidence on him and therefore declared his office vacant, because he has
been absent from meetings over ten consecutive times since 2017, though busy
running his daily activities and business, even when he will be duly informed
of the meeting.
Meanwhile the house committee set up for the matter after due processes
and investigations over allegations levelled against the Ebonyi central
senatorial district coordinator Mazi Nwoba Chinedu, that he ordered his entire
senatorial district not to pay monthly dues or release the collected fund both
state and national, without any reason declared his office vacant.
His offences and dismissal bother on the IPOB bylaw under article viii
(condition/penalty) section 1 B: No 6 which centred on: Disobedient to the
constituted authority. Article viii section 3 - Multiple offense: with the
punishment of dismissal. Article viii section 4 - Unlawful withholding of fund,
material/property and information, which is not easily dealt with the provision
of the bylaw. Article viii section 5 - centred on Insubordination: which goes
against the command and control of IPOB.
It was on the above penalties against the IPOB bylaw, that the
house committee set up to investigate and probe the matters stood on the ground
to take their decisions.
When given the opportunity to explain himself out, Mazi Nwoba Chinedu
told the house that before the decision taken by the committee came to his
hearing, that he had notified his central senatorial district of his readiness
to resign and handover to another person, because they don't accord him the
needed support regard. Reacting to the allegation levelled on him concerning
ordering his senatorial district entirely not to comply to payment of any money
or monthly dues either the state or national, he acknowledged giving the order
on the reasons best known to him, but has revoked it after the time IPOB
African continental representative, Mazi George Onyibe visited the state.
Recall that the state executives invited African Rep, Mazi George Onyibe
to Ebonyi state on 4th July, 2018 to address lapses witnessed among some state,
senatorial principal officers and respectively, with the inclusion of the
above allegations levelled against these persons, which after apologies
rendered by the accused person of Nwoba Chinedu during the all-night general
meeting anchored by Mazi George Onyibe, thereafter could not change for good.
The state deputy coordinator who was duly informed of the gathering on 24 July,
2018 could not attend the meeting and cared not to give any reason on why he
could not make it to attend such a crucial meeting, he could not attend any of
the several meetings both executive and general held after then till the time
of his dismissal on Tuesday 28, August 2018.
The Ebonyi state IPOB coordinator Mazi Igwe Ogbonnaya while addressing
the house noted that, "it is high time we discipline ourselves, we shall
from henceforth make proper use of our bylaw and this bylaw is not going to be
a respecter of anybody, there is a need for us to know how many persons that
are doing this thing here, if you are tired and can't continue again; better
you kindly resign and handover to another person. This is struggle, and a
special indeed, this is a critical moment in our struggle to restore Biafra and
we can no longer entertain any act of non-seriousness in IPOB Ebonyi state. Do
the needful and Chukwu-Okike-Abiama will bless you".
He further lamented over the level of indiscipline among the family of
IPOB not just in Ebonyi state, on that note he therefore asked what would be
the sanction or punishment to any member whom by any reason hit or fight a
colleague either in a meeting or outside the IPOB gathering.
After several reactions from the committee, they came to a
resolution and agreement that any IPOB member in the state who fight a fellow
member or comrade either in a meeting or outside, will go for one-month suspension,
write an apology letter and make open confession during a general meeting not
to engage in such act again.
The meeting which lasted for almost seven hours was attended by the
state executives, the two senatorial district coordinators of south, north cum
the dismissed central senatorial district coordinator and their Secretaries,
many coordinators and Secretaries from the thirteen local government areas in
the state according to the directives were equally in attendance and part of
the deliberations and decisions taken.
The committee headed by the state coordinator of Ebonyi, Mazi Igwe
Ogbonnaya, concluded it will file in the report on the new development to the
appropriate quarters of IPOB led by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, as soon as possible for
approval and enactment for possible and speedy replacement in no distant time.
