THE indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB) in Ebonyi state (Abakaliki province) on Sunday 19, August 2018 inaugurated a new family unit at Onunwakpu Igbagu in Izzi local government area of Ebonyi state, as the clamour for Biafra referendum by IPOB led by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu gets to the apex.

The inauguration took place at the community primary school with good number of persons from Onunwakpu and neighbouring villages in attendance.

The Ebonyi north senatorial district coordinator, Mazi Ezike Wisdom, Mazi Ishioko Jacob, the IPOB Izzi LGA coordinator, Uguru Philip the family unit coordinator of Ikeyi in Izzi LGA and Ogeh Friday Igiri the Ebonyi state IPOB media head were among the big heads in IPOB in Abakaliki province who attended the inaugural meeting.

On his opening remark, Mazi Ishioko Jacob the IPOB Izzi LGA coordinator, took time to explain some frequent asked questions by many as regard to the struggle for Biafra restoration such as: Why taking oath of allegiance in IPOB, what will be the benefits of those in the IPOB struggle for the restoration of Biafra. 

He explained that the main reasons why IPOB take the oath of allegiance is to curb the activities of sabotage in the struggle. On what will be the reward of the IPOB agitators, he said that Biafra will be their reward. He added that “Those who are in the struggle for the restoration of Biafra will be rewarded by the government of Biafra as at when due, he who work will eat". 

The IPOB Ebonyi north senatorial district coordinator Mazi Wisdom Ezike took them back to the memory lane during his teaching to the newly inaugurated family unit, he reminded them of the Biafra unique descendant history from Israel through the tribe of Gad that begot Eri, who journeyed from the sub-Sahara Desert to Ethiopia down to Agulu Eri at the present day of Anambra state. " You are a direct child of Israel the chosen generation by Chukwu-Okike-Abiama (God almighty) so let nobody deceive you of your identity" He noted.

After the brief but educative teaching, he anchored the official inauguration and swearing in to office of the unit principal officers to work.


Elder Patrick Nwegede who is a Biafra veteran expressed his joy and gratitude over the steadfastness of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB members all over the world in the struggle for Biafra restoration, he pledged his total allegiance to IPOB saying that on no account would he give up in the agitation for the total freedom of Biafra even as a Biafra veteran.

Speaking with the media, Mrs Eunice Igbakpo, the unit women leader promised to work assiduously in making sure that the women in the entire Onunwakpu Igbagu in Izzi LGA Ebonyi state joined the struggle to contribute their own quota stating that "Biafrans have suffered vehemently in the hands of the evil Nigeria government and it is high time we unanimously join hands together to bring this humiliation and evil to an end for the benefit of our posterity" 

On his own side, Nwovo Oliver the secretary to the new IPOB family unit at Onunwakpu, stated that "nothing will ever make us to dwindle in the quest for the total Biafra freedom from the British contraption Nigeria".

Many who spoke with Ebonyi media during and shortly after the inauguration, expressed their high level of gratitude and pledged total compliance to the IPOB maintaining that it has all it requires to restore Biafra.

Mazi Ogeh Friday Igiri the IPOB Ebonyi state media head encouraged them to help the media with the provision of the happenings around them for proper reportage, " Because the Nigeria media will never tell your stories to the world since they have been bought by the evil politicians".

The coordinator of Onunwakpu IPOB family unit, Mazi Okpo Earnest, on his address appreciated the level of compliance from his people in coming out in mass more than anticipated to be identified with IPOB, he urged them "Never relent or capitulate until Biafra is being restored" He noted that as the Biafra referendum is coming up any moment from now that they are going to work hard in seeing the entire Izzi people voted yes for the Biafra exit from Nigeria, which according to him expired long ago in 2014.
