Biafra Choice Writers
A Biafran who has been in Nigerian politics for
years, Maxi Okwu, has unequivocally and unashamedly declared his support for
Biafra’s sit-at-home to be held on May 30, 2017. Writing on his Facebook wall,
Okwu declared: “Now we wait to exhale with the mother of all 50th anniversaries
on 30th May. I shall stay put indoors in my house with my family.”
He extoled the good work of Nnamdi Kanu and
Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), insisting that there is not much the “troika
of evil” (probably Obasanjo, Babangida, and Buhari) in Nigeria would do about
it.
The full text of the declaration: Love or hate
Nnamdi Kanu, the man is the issue of the moment. His house in Umuahia seems to
have become the new Onuiyi-haven of the late 70's. But it is the gathering at
YarAdua center in Abuja today that got me thinking. The concession that
citizens are entitled to discuss their status and union is a most welcome
development coming from the Acting President.
“I do not think that PMB (President Muhammadu
Buhari) will agree with him on that. Mercifully he is on medical tourism and we
can forge ahead. Good speech by Nnia Nwodo the President General of Ohaneze. So
far he has made the right noises.
“We must condemn OBJ (Obasanjo) who
characteristically has reduced a very grave and serious national matter to
sharing of cake. It should now be clear to all that until the trioka of evil of
which OBJ is one leaves us alone, this nation will know no peace. Once again
kudos to Nnamdi who has brought the Biafran question to center stage and
mainstream. It is no longer a shameful or dirty B word. Now we wait to exhale
with the mother of all 50th anniversaries on 30th May. I shall stay put indoors
in my house with my family. I dare the security agencies to come and beat me
for observing in quiet contemplative prayers the memories of Biafran heroes.
He said: “We really never had a national leader. We
had three leaders at the beginning of our journey as a nation who were mindful
of their different regions and that remains our problem till today.
