When world summit is scheduled, one dullard claiming to represent the contraption called Nigeria will hurriedly zoom off to the venue country in order to attend the meeting. Nigerian presidency has never been absent in any of the conferences or meetings scheduled by the world, Africa or West African leaders. Make mention of countries that practice democracy, some myopic uneducated beings will mention Nigeria as one among countries practicing democracy. What is a democracy? I could remember my teacher back then in junior secondary school defined democracy as a government ruled by the people. The contraption called Nigeria has adopted this form of political government from the Western continents but refused to be one of its practical students. According to political scientist Larry Diamond, democracy consists of four key elements: (a) A political system for choosing and replacing the government through free and fair elections; (b) The active participation of the people, as citizens, in politics and civic life; (c) Protection of the human rights of all citizens, and (d) A rule of law , in which the laws and procedures apply equally to all citizens.
Why is Nigeria afraid of protests?
I see the Nigerian government as a body abusing the well-created democracy. As I am writing this, right in Abuja the federal capital state of the contraption, citizens who have come out to demonstrate their grieves via a peaceful protest are being arrested. Since the Biafran struggle enveloped a new phase by the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) under the leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, I can authoritatively tell you that the Nigerian government has been demented; in the sense that they have been disposed of their animalistic behaviors. Since the leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra Mazi Nnamdi Kanu was arrested, dated 14th October 2015, there have never aroused any Nigerian group to protest his unlawful detention couple with the incarceration unleashed against him. Today being the 21st day of April 2017; I guess there has been a record that some concerned Nigerians took up the street of Abuja to protest against the proclaimed secret trial to be conducted against citizen Kanu by the trial Judge, Justice Binta Nyako.
Because the word protest against the secret trial of Nnamdi Kanu was mentioned, the streets of Abuja was converted into a war zone. Soldiers, police and other security operatives stormed the roads; why was such heavy troop down of security operatives? Simply because some people wants to express their depressions; to correct the defunct abnormalities recently will ring up their ugly heads in the country. I believe this is happening in the said Democratic state? Many times I become curious, as to the crime exorbitantly shielded in Nigeria. What really makes these people think they are normal human beings? How many times did they hear or see any incident as such in the countries where they copied that system of government? Last year, the former British Prime Minister David Cameron quit from his office, because the will of the people are not the same as his. That is what democracy is all about. During or before the referendum, there was never arrest nor military clampdown on the citizens. The fantastically corrupt Nigeria is no doubt, adulterating the basic concepts of human rights which are one among the characteristics of democracy; yet the world has move in total confusion. Why can't they sanction this evil empire called Nigeria? Instead, they are endorsing the evil forest. Show me one good characteristic of Nigeria, I will show you whole lots of evils perpetrated by this country. The human rights of citizens have been violated, arresting innocent people without any justification.
Nigeria has become a tyrannical state, yet people seems not to understand it. The preliminary sequence of people's right is under siege. There are learned people who should be talking, but they would not give a damn because they are adaptive to the environmental and live pollution caused by Nigeria. Of course, we knew as far back, that it will one-day b of this nature. In the midst of all purported hallucinations accustomed by the evil Britain; the worst insult against humanity, it seems so normal. But there is something that seems inevitable; "what goes up must come down" (the second law of motion stated by Newton). The inevitable reverse o this slow death swallowing Nigeria might not be physical, but it will surely be made physical.
Democracy may be a word familiar to most, but it is a concept still misunderstood and misused in the contraption called Nigeria. Some modern societies, with its size and complexity, offers few opportunities for direct democracy.
When men of old designed the concept of Government, it was for a purpose. The purpose was for the COMMON GOOD through representative actions. The government is the highest system of trust in humanity- by original definition. A man who is in government without an innate passion for public service is clearly a charlatan. A breach of the sacred trust in the order of human government is a cardinal crime against humanity. Men shall answer to posterity and to God for their roles in the execution of this holy trust. Nigerian leaders or rather, Politicians need orientation. Many, like little kids, are toying with a venomous serpent under the delusion that it is mere twine. The creators of Nigeria should put us through if this is what they practice in their country. Yes, they have to explain, because am becoming confused at this contraption they created here.
