Peter Obi runs mad in Enugu; sought to cover his shame by beging prominent Igbo Biafrans

Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State literarily ran amok at Nike in Enugu, recently as he sought to discredit Biafra restoration effort, and Nnamdi Kanu, Leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

But his madness was cured by prominent Biafrans at the occasion like Dr. Alex Ekwueme, former Vice President of Nigeria could not hide their disgust and called him a traitor, betrayer, two-faced Janus, etc.

The event took place on June 24, 2016, during a reception held in honour of Nigerian External Affairs minister, Geoffrey Onyeama. It was held at Nike Lake Hotel Resort, a place known for its cozy and serene atmosphere.

Present were Ekwueme and his wife, Beatrice; many prominent Igbo sons and dignitaries. Without warning, and without invitation, Peter Obi, took the microphone and walked up to the stand and began to speak. He started by calling for Ndi-Igbo to start working together in unity and oneness, which momentarily put the people at ease who thought he was making sense.

Before they knew what was happening, Peter Obi had deviated. He started ranting about Biafra restoration and Nnamdi Kanu. He started giving reasons why Ndi-Igbo should allow Kanu to rot in jail. He called Kanu a subject for psychiatric clinic on a mirage mission. He also called him a rebel who secretly came into Nigeria simple to destroy Buhari’s government.

Before the people knew what was happening, he veered into asking the people to allow Fulani people to be given grazing fields in Biafraland. He went on to ask for support for Buhari’s government which he said meant well.

It was at this point that people got fed up and told the Master of Ceremony (MC) to take the microphone away from his accursed hands. The MC did as the people instructed, walked up to him and snatched away the microphone from him. The people were so angry that many walked-out, Peter Obi then – dressed down and humiliated – started going from table to table of those left behind to plead with them to stay.

When he got to Ekwueme’s table, he got full dose of the rebuke and dressing-down: “Gregory, stop the attitude of ‘Notice me or I quench’. It will only earn you embarrassment and hate. The occasion we are in today is exclusively for merry and as such, does not warrant your attack on Nnamdi Kanu or trying to convince Ndi Igbo to adopt and support you in piloting the affairs of Ndi Awusa by giving them our lands as grazing field for their cows and cattle. I am sorry but I think that you are a total embarrassment to Ndi Igbo, always think before you act and not act before you think”.
